A new challenge is coming up
Recently, our team had to deal with a special task which wasn’t that easy to solve. A customer approached us with a heavily used grapple for which he needed a new scraper bar, also known as a bolt-on cutting edge. The bar currently attached to the grapple had become very worn over time and under heavy use, reduced in size by more than half and was no longer able to fulfill its purpose.
In principle, the procurement of new scrape rails for excavator buckets and other attachments is not a major problem, but the difficulty in this case was that the customer did not have a nameplate or similar for us, so we could not simply order a standard part from a spare parts list. However, as we didn’t want to send the customer away and are always happy and motivated to take on challenges like this, we got out our tape measure and gauged the grapple and the old bolt-on blade precisely.

Quality and durability
Based on this data, our experts were eventually able to produce a brand new, custom-made cutting edge for our client’s grapple. High-quality Hardox steel was used for this, which is known for its particular hardness and wear resistance, ensuring a long service life – even under demanding conditions. In principle, however, such blades can be made from different materials and in different degrees of hardness.
